Millennium Fellowship Project: Promoting Girl Child Education And Community Empowerment
The "Girl Child Community Empowerment" project aimed to address the barriers that hinder girls'
access to education and to foster a supportive environment for their academic pursuits. The
initiative involved a series of outreach programs and community gatherings designed to raise
awareness about the importance of education, particularly for girls, and to encourage parental
support for their children's educational endeavors.
About the Millennium Fellow
Zuliatu Alhassan Bapaala is a young climate and geospatial enthusiast studying Geography and Rural Development from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She was born in Tumu the district capital of the upper west region of Ghana and currently resides in Kumasi. She is a passionate young lady who always seek to advocate for Women's rights and as well identify the role of geospatial technology in addressing climate issues and sustainable agricultural practices. This is evident in her continuous involvement and volunteering for championing activities geared towards climate change and women empowerment both locally and international. Currently in her university, she is a member of YouthMappers, which comprise a group of passionate volunteers using geospatial tools for solving societal problems and she has been an active member and leader in this organization. She aspires to be a Geographic information system analyst in the future and as well advocating for sustainable utilisation of environmental resources especially in promoting agriculture and further contribute to the development of United Nations sustainable development goals.
