" My interest was piqued when I discovered that all the high performing seniors I looked up to are Millennium Fellowship alumni. Upon doing further research, I was convinced and excited about participating and supporting innovations and interventions that align with the sustainable development growth. I am excited to meet forward thinking individuals, working together, planning and executing projects that will make lasting impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Be BP Smart

BE BP SMART is a public health initiative that advances SDG 3. It is focused on combating hypertension, a silent killer affecting millions globally. The project aims to raise awareness about hypertension, promote lifestyle modifications, and facilitate early detection through free blood pressure screenings. By combining education with action, BE BP SMART empowers individuals to take control of their health and reduces the risk of complications associated with high blood pressure.

About the Millennium Fellow

Abdul-liadi Faaiz is a diligent medical student at the Lagos State University, Ikeja. Prior to gaining admission into medical school, Faaiz was an adept communications manager and researcher with a 3- year progressive career that cuts across both the communications and research.
Attending Omole Senior Grammar School for his secondary education, Faaiz was a model student who displayed high intellectual and academic potential. He emerged as the first runner-up in the keenly contested Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition and acted in the capacity of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State for a day as a result. The competition also earned him a place as an exchange student for the Lagos-Finland Educational and Cultural Exchange program in 2017. The program broadened his horizons enabling him to further hone his writing and communication skills. Over the years, Faaiz has gone on to be on boards of Startups, NGOs, Medium and Small Scale enterprises, and government institutions where he has created copies, and content and implemented brand strategies for Impact. He has worked with AFRONEUR, Nigeria, Related Motion Nigeria and the Lagos State Government Ministry of Health to mention a few.
Today, Abdul-liadi Faaiz works a fine line between Medicine and Entrepreneurship. As a 5th year medical student at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Faaiz has served in the college senate representing the interests of his constituents. Leveraging on his experience, he works with the Lagos State Ministry of Health where he writes and contributes to publications, presentations and reports. The most notable of his work being the Closure Report of the "Saving One Million Lives Program for Results" a program aimed at improving maternal and child healthcare by the Lagos State Government in partnership with the World Bank.
Faaiz’s passion for the growth and development of youths in Nigeria and Africa led him to create Haven Consults, a mental health platform changing how youths in Africa perceive and access mental health care. He and his team are working tirelessly to create an ecosystem where young people can seek help without the fear of stigma.
