Millennium Fellowship Project: MpaMpe
MpaMpe is an indigenous Ugandan word meaning, give me I give out. Created to solve the challenge of reduced access to quality education due to financial constraints and health affecting challenges among university students.
About the Millennium Fellow
Patience Akampurira was born in Jinja district and raised in Buikwe district, Uganda. She is currently in her final year studying medicine and surgery at Makerere University. An active member of the Rotaract Club of Mulago, Patience has served as the Service Director and ROLI Chair. She has also been the General Secretary for FAMSA and is the female GRC for Galloway House. Deeply passionate about mental health, she is committed to addressing issues such as perception, stigma, and accessibility in her country. Her experiences, both personal and professional, motivate her to seek effective solutions to improve mental health care.
