Millennium Fellowship Project: Affordable Housing

This research project delves into the challenges faced by the urban poor in Nyalenda B Estate, Kisumu City, in accessing sustainable and climate-resilient housing. It specifically examines local factors like land tenure insecurity, affordability issues, and the impact of climate change on housing provision. The study aims to identify specific obstacles and propose targeted solutions to enhance urban housing sustainability in the area

About the Millennium Fellow

Ian Munene Limiri is a dedicated student of Urban and Regional Planning with IT at Maseno University in Kisumu, Kenya. Born in Isiolo County and raised in Meru County, Ian is passionate about sustainable urban development. His academic pursuits align with his commitment to addressing housing affordability and fostering inclusive communities, making him a promising advocate for Sustainable Development Goal 11. Through his involvement with SDI Kenya, Ian has gained hands-on experience in data collection, mapping, and report writing, equipping him to contribute effectively to urban improvement plans for slum dwellers and enhance sustainable city development.
