Millennium Fellowship Project: Brikates For Sustainability

This project works on providing alternative cheap sources of fuel to avoid overeliance on charcoal .This has been the main contributor to massive deforastation in Kenya. This is because other alternative greener energy solutions have became expensive because of the high cost of living, with the LPG gas costing over 1200 kenyan shillings. Many families have sort to use charcoal a cheap option but in terms of our climate it is an expensive option. This project is also aimed at improving sources of income for families .The families that have been engaging in the making of the brikates and selling the brikates get money that helps their households in one way or another.Environmental and human wellness is what fuelled my push to begin this project. So far the progress we are making is great. The brikates are made from locally available materials which include; charcoal dust, cow dung, soil, saw dust among other materials.
