Millennium Fellowship Project: We All Need Therapy
We All Need Therapy” is a community-driven initiative aimed at transforming perceptions of mental health and improving accessibility to mental health services. The project focuses on creating a supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to seek therapy and engage in open conversations about mental health.
Impact:
Increased Awareness: More community members understand the importance of mental health and the benefits of seeking therapy.
Reduced Stigma: A noticeable shift in attitudes towards mental health, leading to more open and supportive conversations.
Improved Access: Easier access to mental health resources and services for individuals who need them.
Stronger Community: A more connected and supportive community where individuals feel comfortable seeking help and supporting others.
Future Plans:
Expansion: Transform the project into a registered NGO to broaden its scope and impact.
Sustainability: Develop sustainable funding models to ensure the project’s longevity.
Innovation: Incorporate new and innovative approaches to mental health education and support.
About the Millennium Fellow
Beatrice Wanjiru Mwangi is an inquisitive, optimistic, and caring young lady currently pursuing a degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health at Mount Kenya University in Kenya. Having struggled with mental health herself, she made a promise at a young age to ease the pain of others in similar situations. Now at 21 years old, she hopes to use this opportunity to reduce the stigma around mental health and fulfill her promise.
