" I'm passionate about how sustainable urban planning and space design influence sustainable behaviors in societies. I look forward to collaborating with my peers to foster an environment that encourages environmentally friendly behaviors on my campus. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Green Campus Intiative
Targeting SDG #11, our project, Green Campus Initiative, is dedicated to creating a sustainable, student-centered campus by enhancing green spaces and promoting eco-friendly initiatives. The UN Sustainable Development Goal #11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” emphasizes creating inclusive, safe, and sustainable environments—values that we are passionate about incorporating on our campus at Moravian University that many of us call home. As a certified Tree Campus USA, Moravian University takes pride in nurturing our green spaces, strengthening students' connections to the natural environment. We aim to foster greater student interaction with these areas by focusing on two key initiatives: understanding how students value green spaces and identifying barriers that may discourage their use, and collaborating with campus organizations to increase student engagement through activities like student-led gardening and campus upkeep. Additionally, we are working to improve our recycling strategy by designing a system that aligns with the needs and perspectives of our students. In the long-term we wish to create a campus environment where students and nature are interconnected, bringing students a greater appreciation for the environment and more peace of mind.
