" "Seeing how much I can make a difference with the work that I do is what motivates me to develop and lead new projects and initiatives to better serve the community. Through my volunteer work, I have made many meaningful connections and relationships that I will cherish for years to come." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Helping Hands: STEAM Into Action
We will be initiating a civic engagement opportunity for students to be introduced to community service and learn what serving the community is all about. Students will stay after school once a week and complete different service projects, ultimately raising money to purchase STEAM kits to be donated to William Penn. A few of the projects could include cards for the elderly to be sent to nursing homes, cards for children in the hospital, dog toys for animal shelters, community clean-ups, as well as various other projects that could be utilized as a fundraiser or to be donated to other local organizations. The projects will be dependent on the needs of community organizations. This program is for 4th and 5th grade students, working with 10-15 students. By the end of the calendar year, we hope to have raised enough to supply the current and future ESOL students with STEAM kits to enhance and better their learning early on. With the project ideas listed above, we would need financial support to purchase the supplies needed to perform such events.
