Millennium Fellowship Project: Mindful Passages

Our project has grown into a Mindfulness Education Non-Profit awaiting 501c3 status in the USA. We are currently developing our pilot program which consists of a curriculum, an extracurricular program, and research on how these programs affect students, teachers, and families. Our research is an observational understanding of student behavior before, during, and after curriculum implementation. We are also distributing a questionnaire for young people and interviewing teachers who the curriculum will impact. Our curriculum consists of a 10-week program, ' Mindful Futures', emphasizing how mindfulness can be implemented for relaxation, focus, stress relief, and other health benefits. We aim to distribute this program in mid-February (during the spring term of college/quarter 3 for K-8 school). The extracurricular program is 'Mindful Leaders, ' which fosters leadership skills and shows how mindfulness can be helpful for leaders. This voluntary extracurricular program for grades 6-8 will also give students training skills allowing them to teach younger students (k-3rd grade) further how to cultivate mindfulness.
