" "Be the change you wish to see in the world." With this quote in mind, my passion for all my projects stems from a simple motivation: to do my part for a cause. As such, I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow and become part of even bigger and better initiatives. Being a Millennium Fellow is truly an honor that prepares me to take my social impact to the next level and empowers me to confidently interact with senior stakeholders for the causes that need attention. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Swasthya: Menstrual Health Education and GSM Empowerment

Swasthya is a social impact initiative addressing two pressing issues: Menstrual Health Education and the creation of safe spaces for Gender and Sexual Minorities (GSM), including the LGBTQIA+ community. Many communities lack accurate menstrual health information, and social stigma often hinders open discussions. Additionally, GSM individuals need more safe platforms to connect and share experiences, especially those who are closeted. Swasthya’s mission is to bridge these gaps through targeted educational outreach and inclusive support networks. By distributing accessible menstrual health information and facilitating safe space sessions for GSM individuals, Swasthya aims to promote both health literacy and social inclusion, driving positive change in our community.

About the Millennium Fellow

Sara Swain is a third-year student of Economics at Jai Hind College, Mumbai. With a passion for social impact since school, she has collaborated with organisations like Safai Bank, Goonj, and Mumbai Sustainability Centre. A dedicated Animal Welfare Awareness Society member, she authored articles, raised awareness on animal abuse, and facilitated pet adoptions during the pandemic. She firmly believes that giving back to society is a must for all, as bringing about change is not an individual process. Being an avid artist whose canvases tell stories, Sara hopes for her projects too to be vibrant narratives of change one day.
