" Adaptability and creativity remains what keep me excited about being a fellow. Knowing in advance being a fellow will increase chances to connect with classmates a cross the world, this will make me learn alot from colleagues such as skills and competences that can help me bring a change in the society. This will also pose a rational basis for adaptability as I will be willing to let old thinking capacity to go so that I should conform in SDGs pillars just to mention a few. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Plastic Waste to Purpose

Our project focuses on recycling plastic waste, specifically plastic bottles, to create a more sustainable campus environment. We will install bins around the university for students and faculty to dispose of their plastic waste. The collected bottles will be taken to the campus Unipod facility, where they will be melted into pallets. These pallets will either be sold or used to produce branded, recyclable bottles. The funds generated from this initiative will support less privileged students on campus by providing meal tabs, school fees, and upkeep allowances.
Between August and December 2024, we aim to:
1. Install at least 10 collection bins across campus.
2.Recycle over 500 plastic bottles per month.
3.Raise enough funds to support 8 students with meal tabs or other forms of assistance.
4.Promote sustainability awareness through student engagement, outreach activities, blog posts on campus media outlets.
