Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowering Women & Girls In Business And Entrepreneurship

My project aims to achieve financial freedom for women and girls that failed to attain higher education and are suffering the consequences of such circumstances. To reach this goal, I have been teaching the ladies business and entrepreneurship. In addition, through the project, their business have been guided and some have started their own.

About the Millennium Fellow

Wangisani Paula Mulaphi is a young Malawian lady who is passionate about women and their success. Alongside that, she is also passionate about the economic situation of her country and how to drive out poverty. She is studying for a degree in business Administration at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences. She grew up in a rural area where most ladies drop out of school due to lack of adequate finances and end up in early or teenage marriages. When she was in her second year of university, she decided to use the information she had been learning in school, to empower young ladies in business. Her aim was to give them knowledge on entrepreneurship and business so that they could get on their own paths to financial freedom. The community welcomed the initiative and about 40+ women and girls joined and benefited from the program. In addition, some ladies got access to a loan to practice business together. The team of ladies is still growing and impact is still being made.
