Millennium Fellowship Project: Youth Ment Project
Youth Ment is an initiative focused on promoting youth mentorship to inspire students across Malawi to pursue higher education, with particular emphasis on closing gender gaps in education and STEM fields.
About the Millennium Fellow
Maria Phiri is a talented and driven manufacturing engineering student at the Malawi University of Science and Technology(MUST), with a strong passion for empowering young women and girls. Born and raised in Malawi, Maria is committed to using her engineering skills to drive innovation and sustainable development. She has led various projects for example under MUST UNICEF and Ignite the Spark, Hackathon organized by MUST female Association of Engineers(MUSTAFE) focused on improving manufacturing processes while also advocating for greater inclusion of young women in STEM fields. Maria envisions a future where she not only advances Malawi's industrial sector but also inspires and supports the next generation of female engineers, creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
