Millennium Fellowship Project: Transgender Education in Pakistan
Our project was aimed to empower transgender individuals in Pakistan, particularly in Mianwali city, by addressing educational disparities and promoting social inclusion. Key objectives included increasing literacy rates, facilitating enrollment in formal education, combating discrimination and advocating for inclusive policies. To achieve these goals, we implemented various strategies such as literacy programs, outreach, awareness campaigns and advocacy efforts. By fostering a supportive learning environment and addressing the unique challenges faced by the transgender community, we aim to create a more equitable and inclusive society by continuing this project in future too.
About the Millennium Fellow
Sana Azeem is passionate and a competitive student of Electrical Engineering in Namal University Mianwali. Sana enjoys art and calligraphy as her hobby and artistic side. Understanding the importance of education as beacon of light in one's life, she aims to illuminate her society, focusing on education of transgenders which is highly neglected in our community. The discrimination and wrong perspectives of common people for transgenders, hinders in having their basic right; education and a good life. To further this cause, Sana has applied for the prestigious Millennium Fellowship Program, illustrating a commitment to create a positive change. Through dedication and persistance, Sana aims to make a lasting impact so that they may have a respectful life.
