Millennium Fellowship Project: Eco School on Climate Change
This is school for university students of the Republic of Kazakhstan and interested youth. To enable participating students and young people to learn more about climate change, risks and adaptation measures. This school is aimed at supporting proactive youth and students to create social projects. The main task of the online school is to provide information about the problem, show existing opportunities for creating social projects and provide tools for implementing these social projects. Speakers were invited (on a voluntary basis) from the public sector and NGOs who are working on the climate policy agenda of the country and the Central Asian region.
About the Millennium Fellow
Valeria Aleksandrovna Slepchenkova is a creative, ambitious, and driven student of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development at Narxoz University in Kazakhstan. Born in a small village in Kazakhstan, she moved to Almaty to pursue her passion for environmental protection. From the 9th grade, Valeria was inspired to become an environmentalist after a school project where she discovered the profound impact of human activities on nature. This realization sparked her determination to dedicate her life to sustainability and conservation.
Now in her third year, Valeria combines her academic knowledge with practical experience, working on various environmental projects and initiatives. As the CEO of Auaspan.kz, she has successfully led her company to be selected for the GCIP Kazakhstan global acceleration program by UNIDO. Valeria also actively participates in environmental advocacy, having represented the youth from "Climate for Us" at the Central Asian Conference on Climate Change. She maintains strong connections with universities across Kazakhstan, engaging as a young specialist and activist to promote sustainable practices. Her journey from a rural setting to a leadership role in environmental initiatives showcases her unwavering commitment to creating a greener future
