" I’m excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers who share a commitment to creating sustainable change. Coming from a business background, I’m eager to contribute my technical experience while learning more from other students who may have different academic backgrounds. I’m passionate about the potential of supply chain management to transform humanitarian aid, and I’m driven to use my skills to create meaningful impact in communities around the world." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Volunteer Connect

Our mission is to bridge the gap between local nonprofit organizations in need of volunteers and college students seeking meaningful community engagement. As students transition into new environments, they often face a loss of community, contributing to rising levels of anxiety and depression. We aim to accelerate students' immersion into their local neighborhoods through volunteering, which not only enhances mental well-being but also fulfills service requirements for student organizations. By creating a central hub for grassroots nonprofits to list opportunities, we will foster impactful connections where student contributions can make a tangible difference. Leveraging university partnerships and outreach, we strive to expand this initiative, starting with Northeastern University and eventually serving other institutions, ensuring that students engage deeply with their communities rather than larger, resource-heavy organizations.

About the Millennium Fellow

Saul Israel is a fourth-year supply chain student at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, with a passion for humanitarian aid and global development. Born and raised in Davis, CA, he developed a strong sense of community involvement early on, organizing volunteer projects and contributing to local initiatives. At Northeastern, he has continued this commitment as the leader of a student organization and as an employee in The Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern where he helps build and present sexual violence prevention education programs to students. Saul aspires to leverage his supply chain expertise in the humanitarian sector, combining his skills and desire to make a global impact. After graduation, he plans to join the Peace Corps before pursuing a graduate degree and embarking on a career dedicated to positive change worldwide.
