" Systems thinking and creating social impact in the Indian context, through a ground level research process, excites me very much. Through my Millennium Fellowship I'm excited to meet people with a like minded approach. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Pitch Perfect

My project is an inquiry that looks into accessibility and inclusivity of those who have speech impairment due to developmental disorders. It addresses the interventions at a systemic level while studying the medical and social implications of the disorder. It attempts to create therapeutic products for at home purposes as well as professional sessions and follows a bottom up approach of participatory research conducted with the patients and caregivers as well as participatory design while addressing business affordances.

About the Millennium Fellow

Kasturi Katale is a dedicated design student at the National Institute of Design, blending creativity with a deep interest in bio-design and healthcare technologies. Inspired by Peter Jones’ "Design for Care," she has evolved from focusing on sustainability to adopting a systemic approach in healthcare innovation. Recently selected as a Millennium Campus Network Fellow, Kasturi will focus her graduation project on designing speech therapy tools for children with cerebral palsy. Her seven semesters at NID have shaped her into a versatile designer—tinkerer, researcher, experience designer, visual illustrator, and facilitator. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and writing on futures thinking and evolution studies.
