Survey regarding perceptions around marital rape and interviews with experts revealed that while it is quite important to criminalise marital rape to change the perception that women are property of men, it is important to criminalise it in such a manner that women are not victimised a second time since many wives would not want their husbands, who are often the sole bread-earners in the family to be arrested
About the Millennium Fellow
Aashay Rajesh Desai is a bright 19 year old, hailing from India. Having completed his high school education in Mumbai, Aashay is currently pursuing legal studies at National Law University Delhi. Aashay is a man of multiple talents. From leading his cricket club to winning quizzes and debates, his decorated CV boasts of achievements in every field. Despite pursuing an education in Humanities, Aashay keeps notes of upcoming start-ups. He also has a keen interest in String Theory and its applications in Time Travel. Aashay is a man of the people and wishes to give back to the community by conducting surveys and forming a policy to improve sanitational facilities for chawls in urban cities.
