Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Nyayasetu
Project Nyayasetu meaning 'bridge to justice', is aimed at precisely what it signifies. In furtherance of the Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong
Institutions, it attempts to bridge the divide between the promises of justice and the
actualization of justice in two stages. Firstly, by informing ordinary citizens their right to hold their institutions accountable. We make it easier for them to see that their governance systems are beholden to them. Having shown the justice that is promised, we then aim to realize the path to those ends by assessing the way to actualize that promised justice by reviewing the legal aid mechanisms in place. The Project is founded on two verticals wherein one deals with legal aid and the other with the right of citizens to be informed in matters of public governance. This twostep project, we hope can make that divide just a little bit smaller and justice a little more real.
