Millennium Fellowship Project: NOUN Techies
The NOUN Techies project is a student community-driven initiative aimed at fostering technological innovation and skill development among students and professionals at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The project focuses on creating a platform for learning, collaboration, and networking, offering various tech-related activities, such as workshops, hackathons, and mentorship programs. Its mission is to empower individuals with the tools, knowledge, and connections necessary to excel in the tech industry and contribute to the digital transformation of Nigeria. Through regular events and engagement, NOUN Techies seeks to build a vibrant, tech-savvy community that can tackle modern challenges and drive sustainable growth.
About the Millennium Fellow
Israel Bankole is a young, dedicated and an innovative computer science student at the National Open University Of Nigeria. He was born in Nigeria, resides in Lagos state, and is currently studying in Lagos, Nigeria. From his early age at high school, Israel has always frontier tech projects and lead the Jet Club at his senior secondary education; bringing recognition to the school and fostering IT literacy in the school. He grew his passion for quality education, innovation and infrastructure. In his current academic phase, he has initiated some student societies and ambassadorships which weren't available previously, two most impactful introductions are: Google Developers Student Club and Microsoft Student Ambassadors. Which he has successfully organized projects and events.
Israel also aims to advance his profession field and leadership skills to establish a very strong and productive student technology community in his current institution, this will help to foster a supportive learning environment and driving innovative solutions originating from his institution: ultimately contributing to the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
