Being part of Millennium Fellowship will enable me to work with empathy and care, while providing opportunities to those in need. Additionally, it will help me enhance my leadership, networking and communication skills. The skills I will gain from Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on schools and communities more practical and aligned with UNAI principals and SDGs. I am excited for this new journey of hope and learning. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Library For All: Inspiring Young Readers
The Library for All: Inspiring Young Readers project, is an initiative dedicated to advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) by establishing a mini library in an under-resourced school in the PWD area of Islamabad. Focused on transforming the educational experience of orphaned children, this phase of the project provided access to diverse and inclusive literary resources, fostering creativity and a lifelong love for reading. Core activities included organizing a community-driven book drive, setting up a functional and inviting library space, and conducting interactive reading and storytelling workshops to enhance literacy skills. Additionally, a Sustainable Library Management Workshop introduced participants to different types of libraries and management systems through highly engaging, activity-based sessions, culminating in a certification and cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
This marks the completion of Phase 1 of the project, which will continue as a lifelong initiative implemented in phases to ensure its sustained impact. With its initial target population being orphaned children, the project aims to create vibrant, resource-rich learning environments that enhance educational outcomes, nurture imagination, and empower young minds through knowledge and creativity. This ongoing effort seeks to inspire young readers while fostering a culture of literacy and education in the community.
