" "My work is driven by a passion to see people become good stewards of the environment so they can, in turn, experience a better quality of life. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because this is the ideal platform for me to enhance my skills and make a more meaningful impact. Passion alone does not equate to the improvement of livelihoods." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Down to Earth
This initiative aims to tackle the growing issue of litter and improper waste management in Bulawayo, focusing on the widespread plastic waste problem. With the municipality currently unable to manage the high volume of waste, the goal is to raise awareness about waste segregation and existing recycling sites. Through educational campaigns, workshops, and community clean-up drives, we will encourage responsible waste practices, promote waste separation at the source, reduce plastic consumption, and highlight alternatives like recycling and composting. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to contribute to cleaner streets, healthier environments, and a more sustainable future for Bulawayo, while reducing the environmental impact of plastic waste.
