United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Violet Move

Violet Move is a student-led sustainability initiative at NYU that aims to collect usable dorm items during student move-out to reduce waste, donate these items to students in the fall, promoting circular economy principles, and reduce landfill waste, contributing to NYU’s sustainability goals (STARS, Sustainability Tracking Assessment & Rating System), all under SDG 12.

About the Millennium Fellow

Amitra Hoq is a rising senior studying Global Public Health and Biology at New York University. Coming from a multitude of identifiers, daughter of immigrant parents, Muslim-American, raised in both urban and rural settings to name a few, dhr have seen first hand the discrimination people face in healthcare not only within America but across the world, which drew me into wanting to join the public health sector and uphold the United Nations Sustainable Goals. I believe that public health is a multifaceted faceted field, and is necessary to promote health and health equity for everyone. She has done a bulk of research in CKD, CVD, and diabetes within subsaharan Africa and Bangladesh. After her work, she plans on working towards health policy advocacy and inequality.
