" An unwavering passion to drive innovation and make transformative changes in education, medicine and technology. In essence, the Millennium Fellowship is not just a program; it is a catalyst for my mission. It will equip me with the knowledge, connections, and resources necessary to take my social impact initiatives to the next level. Together with the Millennium Fellowship, I am poised to create lasting change in the realm of healthcare, ultimately reducing the prevalence of hypertension, diabetes and cervical cancer. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Triple Haven Initiative

The Triple Haven Initiative is a community-driven project founded on the mission to address the knowledge gaps surrounding preventable diseases such as cervical cancer, hypertension, and diabetes. Inspired by personal experiences with these conditions, the initiative aims to empower communities through education, preventive care, and support. Key activities include webinars, such as the one held during Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, which educated attendees about cervical cancer prevention and treatment. The initiative also conducted outreach efforts focused on hypertension and diabetes, revealing a significant lack of awareness about the importance of regular health checks. These efforts were complemented by in-person health stations where individuals could receive on-the-spot screenings. Through the Millennium Fellowship, the project gained the mentorship needed to expand its impact, with plans to continue offering valuable resources and creating lasting change through community-based health education.

About the Millennium Fellow

Oluwatunmise is a fourth-year medical student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria who is passionate about making the world a better place. As an anti-bystander, she takes the initiative to solve problems at the intersection of technology, medicine, and education. She believes that by leveraging the power of technology and innovative approaches, transformative changes can be brought to these crucial fields. Oluwatunmise is determined to make a difference in the healthcare and educational sectors by actively seeking opportunities to drive innovation, bridge gaps, and create a positive impact.
This drive led her to serve as an ambassador for the Smath Kids Initiative, which fosters a love of STEM subjects among primary school students in the South-West states and rewards exceptional students. She also serves as an ambassador for the healthtech startup Clafiya, which connects individuals to on-demand primary care.
Based on her family's experience with diabetes and hypertension, as well as a question she was asked about cervical cancer, she founded the Triple Haven Foundation to reduce the prevalence of these diseases through education, preventive care, and community support. She envisions a future where these preventable diseases are significantly reduced, leading to healthier, more informed communities.
