Millennium Fellowship Project: Mind Matters: Promoting Mental Health Awareness
The project aimed to raise awareness about mental health among secondary school students in Sagamu, Ogun State. It focused on educating students about the importance of mental health, helping them understand how to manage stress, and encouraging them to seek help when needed.
The project’s objectives included:
• Increasing awareness about mental health and reducing stigma.
• Teaching students simple strategies for managing stress and emotions.
• Encouraging open conversations about mental well-being.
The initiative was conducted in two phases:
1. An introductory session where the team explained key mental health concepts and provided practical tips for stress management.
2. A follow-up session featuring a medical professional who offered expert insights and answered students’ questions.
The project successfully empowered the students with knowledge and tools to care for their mental well-being and fostered a supportive environment where mental health could be openly discussed.
