UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT ERIKA FENTY, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2024.
Pace University New York City | New York City, United States | Advancing SDG 11 & UNAI 9

" Collaboration is key in advancing any major project, so I am very excited to be granted the opportunity to share ideas with other passionate youth from around the globe. I am also thrilled to spread awareness and increase the influence of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on college campuses, because the world directly influences the next generation of policymakers and environmental advocates. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Land and Labor Urban Farm Compost Initiative
My project involves furthering compost initiatives in the campus dining hall, while also providing students and staff with more information on where their food waste goes. The student food waste is currently not being composted on campus, but the pre-consumer waste from the dining hall is composted. However, most students do not know about this, so I wanted to spread awareness of where some of their food goes! I also wanted to provide a pathway to have students’ post-consumer food waste composted right on campus! The goals of the project included filming a series of four videos detailing the compost processes for pre-consumer waste on campus, from the kitchen to the composting facility, in addition to constructing a compost system in the Land and Labor Urban Farm, the campus garden/green space.
