"

Millennium Fellowship Project: Yathartha - Health Edition

"Yathartha - Health Edition" is an initiative led by medical students from the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Nepal, with a mission to combat health-related myths and misinformation while fostering evidence-based awareness. The project addresses pervasive misconceptions, such as those surrounding mental health and self-medication, which can negatively impact well-being.
At its core is the social media platform ‘Yathartha.np’ (Yathartha meaning "Truth"), where health information is shared in Nepali to make it accessible and relatable to the local audience. Through engaging formats like text-based posts, posters, short videos, infographics, talk shows with medical professionals, and Q&A sessions, the platform delivers credible, easy-to-understand content that resonates with the community. Recognizing the scarcity of trustworthy Nepali-language health resources, Yathartha - Health Edition strives to bridge this gap by empowering people to critically evaluate and overcome misinformation.
In addition to its online efforts, the initiative extends its reach through community-focused activities, such as a First Aid Awareness Program for high school students. This program equips young individuals with practical knowledge to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies, reinforcing the importance of accurate, actionable health information.
By combining innovative online engagement with impactful offline programs, Yathartha - Health Edition seeks to improve the overall health literacy of Nepali communities, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to make informed health decisions.
