" Millennium Fellowship is an oppurtunity for me to join a global network of peers who are equally committed in creating real social impact. The mentorship, training, and resources will enable me to bring my idea to fruition and provide a credible platform to engage with policy makers and government bodies. Even if we can't solve all the issues plaguing our ever-changing world, I am happy to be trying to create a small positive impact in this sea of change that Millennium is trying to bring about. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: RITTER
My project aims to enhance health and hygiene in public spaces by integrating germicidal UV-C rays in train and public toilets to minimize microbial infections. The approach is to create an automated, cost-effective sterilization system that uses UV-C light to disinfect surfaces and air, targeting disease-causing pathogens. It combines UV-C lamps with motion sensors and timers to sterilize toilets in the absence of people, preventing the spread of infections and contributing to public health and safety. This solution is especially pertinent in the context of the ongoing pandemic, as it can kill SARS-CoV-2 and other germs, and it also aligns with the increased awareness of the importance of sanitation. My project is a step towards proactive health management in communal facilities especially in train washrooms, offering an innovative and sustainable method to ensure cleaner, safer public toilets.
