" "I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it provides a unique opportunity to expand my efforts in promoting inclusion, fairness, and social harmony. The Fellowship is not just a platform, but a community where like-minded individuals come together to share ideas, support one another, and drive meaningful change. Being part of this global network allows me to learn from diverse perspectives, deepen my understanding of complex social issues, and collaborate on solutions that can create a more just and compassionate world for everyone." Millennium Fellowship Project: Pehel: The Initiative Towards Excellence

Pehel is a project close to my heart, built to help underprivileged communities, especially those labeled as “lower caste,” to access better education and opportunities. Growing up, I witnessed the struggles caused by casteism, and I wanted to make a difference. Pehel acts as a mini-school where we support children who face obstacles in their education.
Our goal is simple: we want to provide the same opportunities to all children, no matter where they come from. So far, Pehel has helped over 1500 children discover their potential and work toward brighter futures. What makes it special is the way it brings people together — students, teachers, and even professionals like doctors and engineers, all working side by side to make education more inclusive.
Pehel isn’t just about teaching; it’s about breaking barriers and creating a world where everyone is treated equally.

About the Millennium Fellow

Raj Karan is a dedicated social entrepreneur and the visionary behind "Pehel: The Initiative Towards Excellence." The project aims to address and dismantle the deep-rooted caste-based discrimination in India by empowering marginalized communities through education. Pehel has created a transformative impact by providing over 200 children from historically disadvantaged backgrounds with access to quality education, thereby bridging the gap between different social strata.
Pehel not only facilitates academic growth but also fosters a sense of unity and equality among the children, challenging and changing societal perceptions. Through this work, the initiative is laying the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable future, driven by the belief that education is the key to social liberation and progress.
Raj is not only focused on local impact but is also determined to contribute to global solutions, making him a promising leader in the fight for justice and equality.
