ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2024

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

" Food is one of the basic life necessity that assists humans in opening their eyes to a new sun everyday. And there are also such people on mother earth who waste as much food that can feed all the needy ones. So I believe Millennium Fellowship will make to able to build network so that I could raise awareness and do practical work by avoiding food wastage and that food could become available to the needy. I highly believe that Millennium Fellowship will teach me how can I make social imapct , how to work and behave with a group of people and some leadership skills too. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainable Plates

Sustainable plates is a group project led by six Millennium fellows ; Shanzay Shakoori, Amna Rehan, Amber Zahra , Minahil Rehaman , Hira kanwal and Saffa Amjad. This project tackles the food insecure regions in Pakistan. The project aims to create a broader impact by collaborating with multiple food providing organizations. Our project will focus on three key dimensions: raising awareness through sessions with university students about healthy and balanced diets, collaborating with local organizations to mitigate food wastage in our community, and conducting research on the impacts of climate change on agriculture in Pakistan, along with exploring potential alternatives for sustainable agricultural practices. Our aim is to engage the younger generation, encouraging them to be more vigilant about their diets and Ensuring food security across the regions of Pakistan.

About the Millennium Fellow

Hira Kanwal is an enthusiastic and resilient student at the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Currently she is in the 4th semester of her BS program of International Relations. Being raised in a countryside area of Kasur district and still being the resident of the same village she believes that equal opportunities should be provided to all the humans of the world and on one should be deprived of basic life necessities. So in this regard she is always passionate about making a social impact and leaving a positive mark on the Earth because everyday when someone does a positive thing, the would becomes a better place to live. May she be prosper in her goal of improving the living conditions of humans and the morality.
