Millennium Fellowship Project: Up-Scale Farmers For The Future
UP-SCALE FARMERS FOR THE FUTURE project was a three month innovative project designed and implemented by ambitious agricultural student, Frank BYIRINGIRO in partnership with Millennium Fellowship Program through its Millennium Fellowship Class of 2024. The project was implemented from August till November with the vision of creating malnutrition free communities in the Gashora sector where innovation meets sustainability in farming. Moreover, the mission for my project was to empower local farming communities to alleviate malnutrition in children under five years of age through its sustainable vertical kitchen gardening. Lastly, the anticipated project outcomes were:
Ø Sustainable reduction of malnutrition status in Gashora sector by 15 percent.
Ø Sustainable year-round production of fresh vegetables within empowered households.
Ø Educating 200 households about the importance of vertical kitchen gardens and helping 50 households to build their kitchen gardens to serve as demonstration.
