United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: நட்பு (Friendship)
"நட்பு (Friendship)" is a community-based initiative established under the Millennium Fellowship project, with a focus on fostering collaboration among children. The primary objective is to nurture young minds aged 5 to 15 at the elementary level, allowing them to develop before being significantly influenced by external environments. This initiative empowers children from rural areas and economically disadvantaged communities within Chennai.
About the Millennium Fellow
Nanditha Kannan is a student of Economics and Public Policy, studying her second year at Sastra Deemed University. She was born in Chennai, India, and has also briefly lived in Texas, USA, giving her an all-round educational and cultural experience. Nanditha has always been extremely passionate about working for social issues like poverty and inequality. Thus far, she has worked on several projects, including tribal-welfare drives and spoken-English teaching sessions. She has had the opportunity of leading many of these events, which gives her a unique perspective and an ability to integrate diverse interests. Currently, she is the President of the Rotary Annettes' Club of her region, and they do multiple community building projects and organise fundraisers for social causes. She has been part of many exchange programs, including 'World School Forum', and recently, was a part of 'Semester at Sea's' voyage 133 as an inter port student, representing her nation. These opportunities have helped her understand a diverse multi-cultural population, and interact with a global community of students. She is a musician, who hopes to make positive social change through her music as well, illustrating her continuous dedication to social action. She has performed several concerts in old age homes and orphanages, and has worked on many fundraiser projects. Nanditha hopes to work in a professional field where she can further her educational and extra-curricular skills further, and contribute to the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
