" "Global impact begins at home. It requires the building of a culture that facilitates growth, that seeks to empower those within it. I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I seek to build something for my campus and community that shifts our relationship to sustainability and puts climate-consciousness at the social forefront." Millennium Fellowship Project: CROUScycle

We approach student events off campus (mostly parties) to offer recycling services in exchange for a small donation which is given to an environmental NGO or to fund other project activities. As for what we have already done: we implemented a system of recycling at three student events in Le Havre
whom we had reached out to prior to the event. These included an "Apparthaton," a large-scale night of house parties coordinated across the city by students from our school, a Halloween party, as well as a friend’s birthday celebration party. At each event, we organized waste-sorting and recycling activities the following morning after the event, providing an environmentally friendly service which we hoped also helped to raise awareness. In return for our services, we collected a small token fee based on what they were willing to pay us, which we donated to an environmental
charity, in this case flood relief in Valencia, and reinvested the remaining into the project to sustain its efforts.

About the Millennium Fellow

Aimee Rogers is a second-year undergraduate student at Sciences Po Paris Campus du Havre. Born and raised in Australia before moving to France, Aimee is exploring what global citizenship means to her, and how as an international body we can overcome linguistic and physical barriers to form a collective community. This pursuit is motivated by her background in climate and human rights activism, having contributed as an organiser to nationwide climate strikes and facilitating the collection of funds for various human rights protection campaigns. She hopes to continue this work and exploration of global citizenship through her professional career, as well as placing a strong focus on the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
