" I believe education is a priveledge that must be shared. Being granted the opportunity to learn and enhance my skills is what drives me to help others. This is why I am looking forward to being a Millennium Fellow. I hope to gain useful skills which I can pass on to others in my community. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Health Literacy Initiative
I am part of my university's student union. I wanted to improve health literacy through social media. I decided that to reach a wider audience I should use a social media platform with already a big following which is why I made posts about mental health awareness through our student union Instagram. I made the posts through stories.
About the Millennium Fellow
Akanksha Sur is a smart, independent and driven medical student at Semmelweis University. She was born in India but grew up in Finland. Ever since she was a child, Akanksha was always interested in social justice and politics. Throughout her life she has constantly involved herself in her community whether it be internationally or locally. She always knew she wanted to represent her community to bring forth equality. As she grew older she realized her passion for medicine which allowed her to combine her interest of social justice through a medical standpoint. Akanksha hopes to be able to grow as a person and to contribute in the development of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals.
