" “I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique platform to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about driving positive change. My work in nutrition and food access is fueled by a deep commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Through this fellowship, I aim to amplify my impact and work toward a future where sustainable, nutritious food is accessible to all, and every individual has the knowledge and resources to make informed dietary choices” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Hunger for Understanding
I aimed to provide quality evidence-based nutrition education to a wide range of people, not just my peers on campus. Topics I wish to successfully get across include nutrition basics, our food environment, future of nutrition & food production, prevalence & stigmatization of eating disorders, rise of childhood & monogenic obesity (when obesity is not a choice), metabolic syndrome, the incredible gut microbiome, sustainable & economical food habits, common myths and most importantly everyday tools for change. I plan to create dedicated week(s) for each topic during the fellowship period with community activities, competitions, volunteering, events/seminars and more scientific sessions with the help of university equipment & labs. Each of these topics have an amplitude of information themselves but I understand not everyone is as passionate to devote hours as I have. Hence I intend to deliver information efficiently enough to affect change in a meaningful way. I genuinely have believed for years that food is one of the most complex social behaviors and the strongest tool for prevention and in some cases treatment of disease. Insufficient nutrition education for children, including those in medical programs who receive less than 20 hours of nutrition education, has resulted in alarming statistics. The money collected from fundraising events has been dontated to The Hungarian Food Bank association, to support those who do not have a choice to be able to afford nutritious meals.
