" Having witnessed the rapid changes in Shanghai, I noticed the crisis beneath the seemingly developed society. My passion for sustainability drives my work in mathematics and data science. The Millennium Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to enhance my creativity and leadership skills, enabling me to contribute more effectively to global sustainability efforts. I am excited to collaborate with like-minded peers to tackle pressing challenges and make a meaningful impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Urban Sustainable Cycling Etiquette Initiative

Passionate about tackling challenges linked to the rapid growth of bike-sharing services in Shanghai, we aim to address the social and environmental issues stemming from this expansion. Safety concerns prevail due to haphazard parking, theft, accidents, and traffic violations, particularly among young riders. Moreover, the environmental impact, including production, energy use, and bike disposal, poses
sustainability challenges. To combat these issues, we advocate for community awareness programs on safe biking practices and collaborate with environmental
organizations for responsible bike disposal. Drawing inspiration from successful models like Hangzhou's bike-sharing system, we seek to implement similar strategies in Shanghai. Additionally, we actively engage with bike-sharing apps to report issues, encouraging responsible bike usage. Our goal is to ensure a safer, more environmentally friendly, and efficient bike-sharing system in Shanghai through innovative and sustainable solutions.
