" "The Millennium Fellowship offers me a platform to bring about change on a larger scale than I, as an individual, can. It will help me meet like-minded people who bring more ideas, passion, and reach. Along with those, we can share knowledge and grow more knowledgeable collectively." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Neeru : A WaterWise Bengaluru
Project Neeru aligns with SDGs 6,13 and 14 by developing strategies to improve water conservation and access in resource-challenged areas of Bengaluru. It addresses water scarcity through lake rejuvenation projects and rainwater harvesting initiatives. Collaborating with NGOs based in Bengaluru, the team works on surveying encroached lakes, rejuvenating water bodies, constructing recharge pits, and fundraising efforts involving corporate partnerships. The project aims to explore the root causes of water scarcity and its redressal measures.
About the Millennium Fellow
Alapati Sriharshitha is a simple person with a simple outlook toward life and the world. She believes in doing no harm to others, consciously and unconsciously, and that it is not people's instinct to hurt others. She has stayed all her life in Hyderabad and enjoys the comfort of a static life. However, the old, mundane, and routine started changing as global environmental crises increased. It has affected everyone's life and way of living. Her beliefs motivated her to take action. She was unconsciously harming the environment, and like her, millions of people were too. As she also believes people do not want to hurt each other, she tries to educate people on how they might be harming others and the environment.
