,grounded in the authenticity that drives my passion for real, impactful change. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Unapologetically a Girl
Unapologetically a Girl redefines what it means to be a girl. Unapologetically a girl is about unapologetically embracing girlhood in all its forms, from menstruating freely to living beyond the need for male validation. Our goal is to demystify the circumstances that women are placed in so that they can take care of their bodies, recognize their own worthiness to participate in society, and end generational, gendered, and racial stereotypes without male assertion.
About the Millennium Fellow
Elisheba is a Comparative Women's Studies major with a minor in Political Science and a concentration in public leadership. She is deeply passionate about challenging societal norms and empowering girls to discover their identities free from patriarchal pressures. Growing up in Harlem as the youngest of three, with two older brothers, she witnessed the ingrained gender biases within society, even within her Caribbean household. These expectations were stifling; her father equated a woman's value to her domestic skills, implying that without them, she was worthless. Her mother's awkwardly delivered sex talks, often in the company of men, further reduced her worth to something to be "conquered," focusing solely on her physicality. Through her academic journey, Elisheba has encountered the myriad of pressing issues faced by women and marginalized communities worldwide, which has fueled her passionate desire to be an agent of change. Inspired by both her personal experiences and academic exploration, she is committed to global feminism and is particularly interested in working with international organizations, such as the United Nations. Elisheba is dedicated to creating a world where women can break free from the metaphorical glass ceiling and step boldly into their futures.
