" I take immense pride in being a resident of Chennai, India, where I have lived since birth. However, I am aware of the flaws and issues that are present in the city. Commited to solving socio-economic issues through an engineering lens, I see various places, from transportation to healthcare, where my contributions will make a difference. As a Millennium Fellow, I wish to make positive changes in my community in any way I can. I believe the connections and knowledge this Fellowship brings with it will aid me in being a more productive citizen for my city and the world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Infrastructure and Identity

“Infrastructure and Identity” aims to document the urbanisation of the city of Chennai, India, primarily focusing on the South Chennai region. As a rapidly developing area in the state of Tamil Nadu and India, the rise of places like Thiruvanmiyur, Tharamani, Guindy, and other localities have seen various transformations. This project is an attempt to create a time capsule of the region as it is in the 2020s; as a place which has been at the forefront of the Indian IT boom and a rapidly evolving city. The project tries to analyse and examine the effect of urbanisation and infrastructure on the social dynamics of the region.
