" All my life I had been a child who used to see the issues with the society around me, and every time that happened I have always thought that if given a chance, I would do my best to change things around. This is what made me want to apply to be a Fellow. Not only does this Fellowship allow me to go about in my dreams of helping people, but it also supports me and provides me with more like-minded people. And now that this is actually happening, I am very excited and eager to start my work here. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Joyous Alms

Food security is a fundamental human right. Unfortunately, for millions of people worldwide, food insecurity is a harsh reality. It is essential that we all do our part to eliminate this, and ensure reliable access to healthy and nutritious food for all. Hence, initiatives like food drives can play a crucial role in both alleviating immediate hunger and contributing to larger global goals.
Our project, ‘Joyous Alms’, is based on SDG 2, which aims to "end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture" by 2030. We believe that food drives not only can serve as a tool to eliminate short-term hunger, but can also contribute to bigger goals. Food drives not only provide an immediate means to support individuals and families in crisis, they also encourage a sense of collective responsibilty. It shows us that hunger is an issue that can be confronted locally with the simple act of ‘sharing’. Through our project, we wanted to show that even small efforts can add up to a significant change, and the fight against hunger starts with each one of us.
