" Having seen firsthand the devastating impact chronic Lyme has had on communities, I am excited to be part of another community, the Millennium Fellowship community, where I will gain support, environments for conversation, and the ability to share ideas, to spread the stories and science behind chronic tickborne illnesses in a way that matters. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Hint of Lyme Education

Hint of Lyme education works to use narrative medicine techniques in order to share the stories and science behind chronic Lyme disease.

About the Millennium Fellow

Isabella Heffernan is a senior at Stanford University dedicated to supporting those with chronic Lyme and other tickborne illnesses. Having experienced chronic Lyme herself, as well as watching most of her immediate family struggle with it as well, she was inspired to pursue bioethics, medical anthropology, and medical humanities as an avenue to provide both structural and individual support to those around her continuining to struggle with chronic tickborne illnesses. Isabella's project plans to use medical humanities and science communication initiatives to spread information about chronic Lyme in an understandable, scientifically supported avenue. By sharing the science and stories behind chronic tickborne illnesses, Isabella hopes to support not just patients, but family members, providers, and the general public as well.
