Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridging the Gap
Bridging the Gap was about Millennium Fellows of TUHH to embark on various projects and form a connection between all of us to foster the way forward for everyone. My personal project, as explained in the video was also about bridging this gap from people to people in a different way. As a fellow from Bangladesh, we have a blank canvas in terms of political atmosphere. We just led the first successful GenZ revolution in this world. But here comes all the problems, what now? Now that an authoritarian dictator is out, people are polarized more than ever before. Political tensions remain heavy between each and everyone. In this volatile time period where students are still at the forefront of rebuilding the country, the country has to grapple with sensitive issues like LGBTQ rights and such. It is hard to get over that layer of dismissive homophobia, on the other hand it is also hard to have the community members be actively engaged in meaningful ways. Supporting women and minority voices of different ethnicity and religions with writing, activism and documentation has been a strong priority from my side. But it is also about connecting everyone forward so that a healthy and peaceful political athmosphere is reached. My project is still in an early stage and as it is about tackling the minority issues, it is going to be a complicated one going forward but there should be no reason to give up. The way to move forward is through facts and education. It is part of learning that we are to learn to coexist with people who are different.
