" “Art is the social tapestry of our world. We further understand ourselves and each other when we give thoughtful space to our creativity - this is why we will continue to play, create, and empower others in seeking artistic agency, education, and formation.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Daseina's Tango Concert Experience: Bridging Culture and Community
Daseina's Tango is a concert experience representing the Argentine Tango through a full scale theatrical presentation. It has an original script and score aswell as a cast of brilliant emerging artists. In partnership with St. James Music Academy, a charity music institution, we help to support at risk children in music education by inviting them to our event, visiting their school to perform, and creating workshops with them in theatre and drama. This work will continue until next September, although we plan to have it go as long as possible.
About the Millennium Fellow
Isabel Miller Iparraguirre is an International Relations student in the University of British Columbia. Her training is also inclusive of theatre/acting and music in the classical and jazz worlds. As an actor and musician, she is passionate about finding the intersections between art, individualism, and social unity. She wishes to facilitate music exploration and education, particularly in addressing accessibility issues. Isabel is honoured to thoughtfully represent Hispanic music and culture through her initiatives, and hopes to continue to create bridges between artists, audience members, and the wider community.
