Millennium Fellowship Project: Gulf Coast Coral Restoration Initiative
The GCCRI establishes both land-based and underwater coral nurseries to cultivate diverse coral species. These nurseries focus on growing corals that are resistant to stressors such as increased water temperatures and ocean acidification. The project aims to outplant over 60,000 coral colonies across 18 restoration sites in the Gulf of Mexico.
About the Millennium Fellow
José Cristobal Garza is an empathetic, hard working, and joyful person who loves to take on challenges and maximize his efforts every day. He is a student at the University of British Columbia studying International Relations and Economics. He is focused on making oceans cleaner and safer, and making sustainable cities adaptable for humans to inhabit them.
