United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Wellness Wave
The 5 fellows participating in this project utilized various collaborations to achieve the aims. The wellness wave consisted of a series of outreaches and rendering health interventions to communities and populations that needed such interventions.
The main objectives of the project were to enlighten various participants on the practice and benefits of healthy living and to promote a healthier society.
It featured the following;
1. Visit a vulnerable children’s home during the 2024 adolescent week to teach them about the peculiarities of being adolescents and how to dutifully navigate the stage and emerge thriving rather than just surviving.
2. Visit a rural community to teach them about the dangers of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetics.
3. Campaigns during World Antimicrobial Resistance Week to shed light on the dangers of AMR and how to appropriately use antimicrobials to prevent the epidemic of resistance.
4.It also featured teaching sessions to a group of young people where the advantages of regular health checks were highlighted and basic checkups were done for free for the participants.
About the Millennium Fellow
Iziren James Oisagbai is an enthusiastic young man. He is a fifth-year medical student. He was born in Edo state, Nigeria. He has been enthusiastic about policies that drive public health awareness. This drive has led him to volunteer in organizations that drive these interests like the Friends of Damia Foundation, The Nigerian Red Cross Society, and many more where he can contribute to policy development and actionable steps to achieve set goals and also provide leadership where it is required. James is a fellow of the McKinsey Forward.
James is hoping to become a doctor soon.
