" Mental health is crucial for medical students who often face immense pressure and stress. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am eager to develop initiatives that support mental well-being among my peers. This program will provide the platform and skills to make a meaningful impact, aligning with the UNAI principles and SDGs. By fostering resilience and mental wellness, I hope to contribute to a healthier, more supportive environment for future medical professionals. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Mental Health and Well-being of Medical Students

The project, "The Mental Health and Well-being of Medical Students in Bamenda, Cameroon: Exploring the Impact of Academic Pressure and Sociocultural Factors," aims to address the mental health challenges faced by medical students. The initiative recognizes the significant toll that academic pressure, societal expectations, and cultural norms place on students' mental well-being.
Through research, advocacy, and support programs, the project seeks to:
Identify the key factors contributing to stress, anxiety, and burnout among medical students.
Foster awareness about the importance of mental health within the medical community.
Provide practical resources such as peer support groups, counseling sessions, and workshops on coping strategies.
The ultimate goal is to create a sustainable system that prioritizes the mental health of medical students, enabling them to thrive academically and personally while reducing the stigma associated with seeking mental health support.
