Millennium Fellowship Project: Drug Abuse Impact On Adolescents' Mental Health
My Millennium Fellowship project, The Impact of Drug Abuse on Adolescent Mental Health, was a targeted social impact initiative addressing substance abuse among young people. The project focused on educating adolescents about the adverse effects of drug abuse on their mental health, particularly its role in exacerbating conditions such as anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders.
As part of the initiative, the project created an avenue for interaction and awareness campaigns within the community, engaging educators, parents, and teachers, with a primary focus on adolescents. These campaigns were aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use while empowering adolescents with knowledge and strategies to overcome challenges and seek help when needed.
The major activity was carried out at UDSS Secondary School, Benin City, where about 400 students were the target audience. A survey was conducted to assess how much the students had gained from the interaction. Following the project and through my analysis, we achieved 100% success from the activity, reflecting the dedication and impact of the effort.
