" Millennium Fellowship provides an opportunity to collaborate with peers and create impact while doing what I am passionate about. My passion for eye care and my love for children drives my work, that I can improve access to quality eye care for children gives me a sense of fulfilment. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their lives and give back to the society around me while contributing to the development of the UNSGs. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Bright Eyes, Bright Children Initiative

My project "Bright Eyes, Bright Children Initiative" was carried out in a school in the neighborhood I reside in currently. It is a project that involves creating awareness on eye problems that can affect children, their symptoms and possible management plan. A brochure was distributed to the children which contains ocular pathologies, their signs and symptoms. The purpose of the brochure is to educate the children and also their parents or caregivers when the children present the brochure to them. After giving a health talk to the children, with their teachers present, visual screening was carried out on more than 100 students and their teachers were not left out. The visual screening consisted of two major tests, which were Visual acuity to check for any refractive error and Ophthalmoscopy, which involves checking the health of inside of their eyes for any pathology.
