" Mental health issues are a big deal in the western world today, but sadly not in Africa. I know people who died because they couldn't get help, and even when they did, the stigma associated with these issues caused them spiral back down.
Being a Millennium fellow would grant me the necessary skills sufficient to increase my voice and extend help to all in need. "

Sustainable Development Goal 3 addresses Health and Wellbeing. Mental health is an aspect of health that is often neglected especially in this part of the world. Mental health advocacy and awareness seek to address all issues that forms barricades against people seeking help on time

About the Millennium Fellow

Fabian Omini is a student and a writer, who hopes to change the narrative of mental health in Africa. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and he currently resides in Calabar, where he studies to become a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
He has been involved in planning and participating in several mental health programmes and is passionate about helping people lead a complete healthy life. He also uses his writing abilities to create compelling stories and articles that spreads this gospel, contributing to the furtherance of the UN sustainability goals.
