Millennium Fellowship Project: Hopecare Initiative

It is a project that seeks to educate the community on the relationship between Diabetes and Hypertension, its management and prevention.

About the Millennium Fellow

Selnan Sargwak Lamsing, is from Plateau State Nigeria. A Student Medical Scientist at the University of Jos Nigeria. He is the 12th President of the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association, University of Jos Chapter. In line with his passion for leadership he's a Member of the Young African Leaders Initiative, a Campus Ambassador for the International Model United Nations, Plateau State Coordinator for the Tobacco Abstinence Club (2021 and 2022 World No Tobacco day award winner), also a member of YouthLead. Selnan is actively involved in the fight against Tobacco and Substance Abuse therefore forming the basis for his Membership with the International Society for Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP). To build connection and network with fellow Biomedical Scientists across the world he became a member of the African Society for laboratory medicine (ASLM), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and a Global Outreach Student member of the American Society for Microbiology(ASM)
Professionally, he is particularly interested in Andrology, Tumour Immunology, and Endocrinology.
Selnan is also Passionate about helping young people with psychosocial problems, and depression, this has led to his participation in webinars and discussions on the topics of depression and drug abuse, Maximising one's potentials, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance, Addressing Drug Challenge in Health and Humanitarian Crisis, the Science of Addiction, Addiction and Mental Health: Finding the roadmap to wellness. He was Nominated for the World Health Organization's "World No Tobacco day Award 2024" for the inauguration of the Tobacco Abstinence Clubs in Orphanages across Plateau State Nigeria, which he started in October 2022, he received the award under the umbrella of the tobacco abstinence club on May 31st, 2024 together with other club members. Selnan is the Winner of the prestigious "Health Activist of the Year 2023 Award" by the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association, National Chapter. Due to his interest in Community Development and Advocacy, he has engaged in medical outreaches to different communities on the Plateau in Nigeria. His Skills Include Public Speaking, Data Science, Project Management, Social Media Management, Event planning, Mental Health Advocacy, Content Writing/Content Creation, and Laboratory Diagnostics. He is always open to opportunities, programs and Competitive events that Challenge his intellectual capabilities...
